Your best friend

Today I came across something that really got me thinking. The question is, is your spouse your best friend? Well actually the first question that was asked was, "what do you consider to be attributes of you best friend, and who do you call your best friend? Do you have many or few? Do you drop anything and go running if they need your help?" This was the true question. I started talking about my "girlfriends" and the people that were what I thought to be closest to me. The table of people said stuff like they babysat for you and help you when you need a shoulder to cry on. They also said that they would get up at all times of the night to help their friend, or just be their to listen. They would pray for them and continue to help them through whatever they were going through without passing judgment. They are open with there friend and are honest with their friends. All these things about their "best friend" or their "girlfriend". Then one of the lady's got up and asked us if our best friend was our spouse? Oh my goodness their was silence. We had all been talking about people that God gave us but forgot the most important person that he gave to us "our spouse". Is it that you will drop all for a friend, but when you spouse asks for your help or for you to do something that you get an attitude about it all. Or how you will stay up all night for a friend in need, but when your spouse needs to talk you tell him that you are too tired or have to do something else. God gave us such a wonderful friend for all our lives, and yet we still think that the people that come and go are our "best friends". I know that brought such a light to my heart and I hope it will for all who reads. Your spouse should always be your best friend!
